About / Artist Statement
Sienna Nava (2001, London, England) is a visual artist working predominantly in photography and installation. Working between documentary and the constructed image, her practice explores narrative through authentic people and places. Shooting on medium-format colour film, Nava uses conceptual scenography to make photographs in domestic spaces. Themes of identity, heritage, and memory are recurring in her work, often conveyed through staged portraits. Many of her subjects are individuals with whom the artist shares close relationships—family, friends, romantic partners, or herself. Nava's ideas tend to be realised in physical forms and varied mediums, including hand-made; artist books and bespoke light boxes.
